Michael A. Fortini represents clients throughout Montgomery County and the surrounding Maryland counties in every area of family law — divorce, custody, child support, alimony, property distribution, and protective and peace orders. He handles his own cases from the first consultation through final resolution, whether that resolution comes by agreement or after trial. When a protective order matter brings related criminal charges with it, Michael handles those as well.
Michael began his career in federal court, litigating civil rights and criminal cases at the trial and appellate levels before devoting his practice to family law. That background shapes how he prepares a case, and how he spends a client’s money. He is candid from the first consultation about the likely outcome, even when it is not what a client hoped to hear, and he revisits that assessment as the case develops so clients can weigh what each decision costs against what it stands to accomplish.

Michael was raised in South Jersey and lives in Maryland with his wife and two children, both in elementary school. Outside the office he is usually on a hiking trail with his family.
